Shaping up 6G – regional initiatives & research collaborations

Dr. Thyaga Nandagopal is the Deputy Division Director of the Computing and Communication Foundations (CCF) Division in the Directorate of Computer & Information Science and Engineering (CISE) at the National Science Foundation. In this role, he oversees the division’s investments in the theory and foundations of computing systems and communications technologies, with an annual budget of nearly $200M.

Colin is currently the chairman of the board of the 5G Infrastructure Association. He has detailed knowledge and experience of the telecommunications industry having worked directly or indirectly with many of the major players over a 28-year period. The roles have included software developer, technical consultant, technical marketing, standardization and management. In addition to line manager roles, he has participated extensively in standardization activities at ETSI, ITU-T and 3GPP, including

Mr. Takehiro Nakamura joined NTT Laboratories in 1990. He is now SVP and General Manager of the 6G-IOWN Promotion Department in NTT DOCOMO, Inc.
Mr. Nakamura has been engaged in R&D and the standardization activities for advanced radio and network technologies of W-CDMA, HSPA, LTE/LTE-Advanced, 5G and 6G.

Dr. Guangyi Liu, received his PhD. from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2006. He joined China Mobile since 2006, now he is the leading specialist and 6G director of China Mobile Group. Before he joined China Mobile, he has worked for Shanghai Bell and Siemens (Now Nokia) for 3 years. He has led the standardization and industrialization of 4G and 5G in China mobile from 2007 to 2019. Now he is leading the 6G R&D.
